Who our group is:

VALID stands for the Victorian Advocacy League for Intellectual Disability.

Valid as 3 Self Advocacy Networks for people with intellectual disability in the North, East and West suburbs of Melbourne.

We give people with intellectual disability a space where they can speak up about what matters to them.

What does our group care about?

VALID’s Self Advocacy Networks run meetings that give people with intellectual disability the opportunity to:

  • Get stronger in Self Advocacy skills – like speaking up about their rights
  • Talk about problems for people with disability they want to change in the world
  • Meet new people and learn new things

Things our group has worked on:

  • Invited guest speakers to share information important to people with disability and the community.
  • Give Government and other groups who want feedback from people with intellectual disability that chance to talk to the Self Advocacy Network.

Who can be member of our group?

You can be a member of VALID’s Self Advocacy Networks if you:

  • Have an intellectual disability
  • Live in the North, East or West Suburbs of Melbourne
